“The past affects the present even without our being aware of it.”

— Francine Shapiro

You’re tired of knowing the past is over—but still feeling stuck in it.

Maybe you're struggling with...

  • Intrusive memories, flashbacks, or emotional flooding

  • Overreactions or shutdowns that feel “out of proportion”

  • A sense that you’re stuck in old patterns, no matter how much insight you have

  • Negative self-beliefs like “I’m not good enough” or “It was my fault”

  • Avoiding reminders of past experiences

  • Feeling disconnected from your body or emotions

  • Trouble trusting others or feeling safe in relationships

  • A sense that talk therapy hasn’t fully resolved what’s going on

  • Carrying emotions or tension that feel trapped in your body

What EMDR Can Help With

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing experiences so they no longer feel overwhelming. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR works with your nervous system to unlock where trauma, shame, or distress has gotten “stuck.” We’ll move at your pace—starting with grounding and safety—before exploring and reprocessing the memories or beliefs that continue to impact your daily life. Many clients experience shifts not just in symptoms, but in self-worth, clarity, and how they show up in relationships.

  • PTSD and complex trauma

  • Childhood emotional or physical abuse

  • Medical or birth trauma

  • Anxiety and panic

  • Phobias or performance fears

  • Shame, guilt, or self-blame

  • Grief and unresolved loss

  • Negative self-beliefs (e.g. “I’m not safe,” “It was my fault”)

  • Emotional triggers that don’t seem to make sense

What EMDR Looks Like in Therapy

The Eight Phases of EMDR

  • understanding what’s bringing you in and identifying past experiences that may still be affecting you

  • building trust, learning grounding skills, and resourcing your nervous system

  • selecting specific memories or beliefs to work with

  • using bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping) to help process those memories

  • strengthening positive beliefs that emerge as old patterns shift

  • noticing if any residual tension or distress remains

  • helping you feel calm and grounded before ending each session

  • reviewing progress and deciding what to work on next
