What is the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)?
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a listening-based intervention developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, grounded in polyvagal theory. It uses specially filtered music to stimulate the vagus nerve and support regulation of the autonomic nervous system.
SSP is designed to help people shift from a state of fight/flight or shutdown into a greater sense of calm, safety, and connection.
What to Expect From SSP
SSP is delivered over 5 hours of specially filtered music, typically in 15–30 minute sessions over 2–4 weeks. Sessions are guided or supported remotely depending on your needs and goals.
Before we begin, we’ll meet to assess your readiness and make a plan that feels safe and sustainable. The protocol is always delivered with nervous system safety and pacing in mind.
